The entrance to Fingal's cave
This is looking into Fingal's cave from as far away from it as I could get. Even with a wide-angle lens you cannot really photograph it from the island. According to my Encylopedia, the cave is 20m high and 13m wide. However there is nowhere on the island more than about 20 ft. from the cave that you can see it from. To see the whole cave you should see the
British Geological Survey's ariel photo
Note the hexagonal columns everywhere.
This picture is a particular good test of your screen. Some screens show the left-hand side of this picture as feature-less black. Better screens show the far-side of the cave, and you call see the outlines of the basalt columns to the left of Allan at the back of the cave.
